Element and character

Pomegranate Wood: hardy and fruitful, stronger for being tested. The year stem is Yang Metal, and the Monkey is clever and flexible, funny, a fast learner who improvises well.

The Metal stem restrains the Wood element: you set high standards for yourself, which builds discipline but needs rest to balance it.
